NEW YORK CITY – Nineteen years after the tragic attacks of September 11th, 2001 killed nearly 3,000 people, heroic businesses across the United States are remembering and honoring the lives lost by offering an additional 25% off on all purchases made in-store and online at checkout.
“There’s not a single person who doesn’t remember exactly what they were doing when they learned about the first plane to crash into the World Trade Center that morning, recalled Laura Bender, store manager of a Target in New Brunswick, New Jersey. “I was just starting to put out the fall inventory and I nearly dropped all of the Styrofoam skeletons. I just remember feeling absolutely helpless that day but I’m so happy that, this year, our team will finally be able to lend support to our customers by passing on incredible savings in all departments throughout the store today.”
Retailers hoping to recapture the feeling of togetherness that many Americans embraced while trying to rebuild after 9/11, the single deadliest terrorist attack in human history, are offering customers across the country the chance to unite over reduced pricing on a variety of products during this anniversary sale.
A reporter at The Satirer spoke with a shopper, Brandon Curtis, as he entered a Best Buy for his thoughts on the promotion, “I remember watching the news that day on TV over and over again in disbelief,” said Curtis. “That’s why I’m here actually, I realized I haven’t upgraded my television set since 2001 and when I heard about the blowout they’re having over here I figured I’d be a dummy if I didn’t take advantage of it.”
As time marches on, American memories may fade. Thankfully, in response, the nation’s businesses will selflessly sacrifice their profits to offer unparalleled markdowns that customers will never forget.
